Michal Meiler

Michal Meiler, a partner at Ver Ploeg & Marino, was born in Israel and raised in New York. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the George Washington University in 2006, and a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2010. During law school, Michal served as the Article Selection Editor of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal and participated in the year long Criminal Justice Clinic. She also interned for the Honorable Judge John M. Facciola at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, and was a summer associate at an internationally recognized law firm in DC. Michal’s graduation honors include winning the Michael Feldman Advocacy Award and the Greenfield Trial Practice Award. 

Prior to joining VPM, Michal worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Miami Dade County where she conducted over sixty-five trials, including homicide offenses. 

Michal now focuses her trial practice in the areas of insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, representing both individual and corporate policy holders, as well as injured victims. She is admitted to practice before the Florida Bar; the U.S. District Court for the Southern, Middle, and Northern Districts of Florida; the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals; and the U.S. Supreme Court. Michal is dedicated to protecting the rights of Floridians, serving on the Board of Directors of the Florida Justice Association, Immediate Past-Chair of the FJA Women’s Caucus, Member of the American Association for Justice Voter Protection Committee, and Past-Chair of the AAJ Insurance Law Section. She is also active in the Florida Bar, serving on the Federal Practice Committee. Her involvement in the legal community includes various roles and previous committee assignments with the Miami Dade County Bar Association, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, the Miami-Dade Trial Lawyers Association, and the Spellman-Hoeveler Inns of Court over the past decade.

Michal’s work in the legal field has earned her recognition as Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America, a 2020 Top Up and Comer Under 40 by the South Florida Legal Guide, 2020 On the Rise Honoree by the Daily Business Review, Rising Star by SuperLawyers®, and one of the 2018 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers in South Florida by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She has lectured on various topics for the Florida Bar, the Florida Justice Association, the American Association for Justice, the Miami-Dade Trial Lawyer’s Association, the Broward County Trial Lawyers Association, the National Crime Victims Bar Association, and the National Business Institute, and has been featured on podcasts “Summarily – a podcast for busy lawyers”, and “Legally Exhausted.” She has co-authored articles for AAJs Trial Magazine, and has co-authored Amicus Briefs in both the Florida Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.
